Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice set of "Private Purchase" binoculars by Rodenstock of München (Munich), Bavaria. Small field glasses were highly preferred by German officers due to their convenience. This example is fully functional, with clear optics and a working central focus adjustment. It is nicely marked as follows on the adjustment knob:
RODENSTOCK DANAR
5x
It is also marked on either side of the knob with
D.R.P. 1945
This indicates that the design is patented, and that the binoculars were produced in 1945. Rodenstock of Munich is a rare and desirable maker of these binoculars. Condition is good, though there is some oxidation on the aluminum parts of the body. The leather covering is in good shape, with a bit of lifting at the edges. Both bakelite eye cups are in great shape, with no cracks or other major issues.
Overall a very nice example of the classic eye piece for German infantry officers during WWII!
